  • Job Description

    I. BASIC FUNCTION

    Provide Database and Systems, Operations and Administrative support and control services as required to Barge Maintenance staff and cross functionally with other CBC departments as required in support of Barge Maintenance and CBC operations.

     

     

    II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    3. Training and Travel Support and Control
    4. Administrative Support and Control
    5. Carry out the CBC Mission, Business Philosophy and Code of Conduct

     

    III. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

                Barge Maintenance Systems and Database Support and Control

    1. Accurate maintenance of Certificate and Repair & Inspection files. To include Certificates of Inspection, Certificates of Documentation, Vapor Tightness Tests, Cargo Pipeline Tests, Class Certificates and Reports.
    2. Assist with USCG/ABS documentation to update databases/spread sheets/IBM Connections. To include TRAK, BPQ, Vessel Register, ScanBargeDocs, Hull Gauging and others as needed.
    3. Auditor of databases and spreadsheets weekly/monthly.
    4. Special projects as needed for department and database improvements.

     Barge Maintenance Operations Support and Control

    1. Maintain and improve On/Off Charter-IBM Connections & On/Off Charter surveys in Scanbargedocs.
    2. Assist with maintenance of SINEX requirements for the fleet.
    3. Support Shipyard & Cleaning Facility Audits
    4. Coordinate and arrange Parish Re-Entry Placards and other Storm Related activities as required.
    5. Process New Construction contractors time sheets/expenses (as required).

     

                  Training and Travel Support and Control

    1. Coordinate staff training with outside contractors (Volcanic, OSHA Shipyard Competent Person, etc.). Provide training agenda and details to attendees. Maintain training record of attendees. May include making arrangements for lodging and travel.
    2. Coordinate in-house staff training (Quarterly Reviews, Mini Quarterly Reviews, etc.). Provide training agenda and details to attendees. Maintain training record of attendees. May include making arrangements for meals and conference room reservations.
    3. Coordinate lodging and travel arrangements for Barge Maintenance staff. Code and approve invoices when received.
    4. Evaluate OnBase travel invoices that Crewing may not be able to identify.
    5. Process mileage and expense reports for Barge Maintenance staff.

     

    Administrative Support and Control

    1. Update and maintain Barge Maintenance Operations Policies and Procedures Manual and other documents as required.
    2. Update as directed and maintain SOPEP, Vessel Response Plans and Transfer Procedures and other documents as required.
    3. Compile and distribute Budget Booklets and other documents as required.
    4. Maintain departmental credit card expenses and approvals.
    5. Responsible for Office mail receipt, opening and distribution, and for ordering office supplies for Belle Chasse Office and approve office supplies invoices as needed.

                      Carry out the CBC Mission, Business Philosophy and Code of Conduct

    1. Serve as seamless backup to Operations Coordinator(s) Regulatory and SIRE positions. Responsible for thorough and complete understanding of both of these job requirements and duties.
    2. Perform additional projects and duties as assigned by SIRE Supervisor and/or Barge Maintenance management. May include cross functional assignments outside of Barge Maintenance.

     

    IV. REQUIREMENTS

    1. Minimum high school education, although some college is preferred.
    2. Two years’ experience in the marine transportation industry or a related field, or comparable level of education is desired.
    3. Good communications and computer skills are essential, including proficiency with MS Office Suite, Lotus Notes and database applications.
