  • Job Description




    Provide timely and accurate invoices to customers by researching all required pertinent and applicable information.  Attention to detail, accurate data entry, and ability to handle confidential information.



    Performs the following to ensure timely and accurate billing and collection of payment for Unit Tow Billing, Spot Tows, and Charter fuel

    • Obtains all necessary information about Unit Tow trips (i.e.-dates, rates, fuel consumption, etc.) to accurately complete the Charter Form for Unit Tow invoicing prior to billing
    • Generates billings to Unit Tow customers and compiles related documentation
    • Attends weekly Unit Tow business meetings to obtain information about vessel and barge allocations and other developments
    • Calculates and posts journal entries to accrue revenue for charter and fuel billings for trips in progress at the end of each month
    • Maintains awareness of contract terms and rates as it relates to specific customers
    • Coordinates and collaborates with dispatch to review and verify information accuracy
    • Communicates professionally and effectively with internal and external customers and co-workers


    The Accounts Receivable Clerk in this position has the following additional billing responsibilities:


    • Process invoices to rebill customers for fuel and other expenses paid by CBC on their behalf
    • Reviews orders that are ready to be billed daily in the TRAK system for accuracy, investigates discrepancies, checks proper approvals, and issues invoices
    • Utilizes software that is specific to the marine industry effectively to perform these responsibilities
    • Ability to multitask and work in a team environment, to meet department goals
    • Monitors the aging of assigned customer’s accounts and contacts customers when invoices are past due regarding payment status


    1. High school diploma with 1‑3 years of Accounts Payable or other accounting experience
    2. Experience with ERP accounting systems and / or document management software desired
    3. Experience in marine transportation industry desired
