    Accounts Receivable Clerk

     

    BASIC FUNCTION

    Provide timely and accurate invoices to customers, and complete assigned accounting responsibilities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Performs the following for Dry Cargo and certain Tank customers to ensure timely and accurate billing and collection of payment:

    • Reviews orders that are ready to be billed daily in the TRAK billing system for accuracy and investigates issues, obtains approvals as needed, and issues invoices to customers.
    • Maintains an awareness of the contract terms and specifications for assigned customers as related to billing.
    • Coordinates with Marketing and Transportation services to resolve issues before billing the customers.
    • Generates customer invoices; performs a quality review; and distributes invoices to customers.
    • Monitors the aging of assigned customer accounts and contacts customers when invoices are past due to inquire about the status of payment.
    • Utilizes the TRAK, Lawson and OnBase systems effectively to perform these responsibilities.
    • Communicates professionally and effectively with internal and external customers and co-workers.

    The Accounts Receivable Clerk in this position has the following additional Billing responsibilities:

    • Coordinates with the CBC-North Accounting department on the generation and distribution of invoices for Canal Terminal Company.
    • Process invoices to rebill customers for certain expenses paid by CBC on their behalf.
    • Reconciles the General Ledger accounts for rebillable expenses to ensure that all such expenses are billed to the customer.

    The Accounts Receivable Clerk in this position also has the following Accounting Responsibilities:

    • Participates in the preparation for the monthly Dry Cargo business unit financial review by recording various journal entries and preparing certain reports.

     

      EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:                                                                             

    • High school diploma with 1‑3 years of Accounts Receivable or other accounting experience
    • Experience with ERP accounting systems and / or document management software desired
    • Experience in marine transportation industry desired
