Canal Barge Company Deckhands work on our fleet of Inland Towing Vessels. There is excellent opportunity for advancement, and extensive training is provided.   Qualified candidates must be safety-conscious and able to work in a physically demanding environment. The work schedule consists of 28 days on and 28 days off, with travel reimbursement. All applicants must have favorable work references and valid driver's license, and must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.   Primary Job Duties - Handle lines and wires - Make and break tow - Maintain barges in tow - Maintain cleanliness of the vessel and tow - Inspect equipment - Chip and paint decks and superstructure of the vessel   Physical Requirements Physical requirements of the job include climbing ladders and stairs, repetitive bending and stooping, lifting heavy marine equipment, and lifting objects from various levels ranging from 10-100 pounds.

I                  BASIC FUNCTIONS - Responsible for all Shipping and Receiving material out of the Warehouse - Responsible for Warehouse Inventory - Assist with Material Purchases as directed by Buyer - Responsible for General Maintenance of the Facility - Responsible for Disposition of all material requiring repair at Boat and Barge Maintenance’ request II                 RESPONSIBILITIES   The Warehouse/Facilities Coordinator has the following responsibilities: - Performs receiving function of all material shipped to the Warehouse - Records all material received at the Warehouse in receiving database - Arranges all shipments for material leaving the Warehouse - Records shipment of all material leaving the Warehouse in shipping database - Responsible for maintaining warehouse inventory in designated inventory database (Sinex) - Responsible for processing invoices (reconciliation) and purchase orders into CBC computer applications (OnBase and Lawson) - Supporting barge and boat maintenance inventory efforts across the fleet - Upon request from Operations/Purchasing, arranges shipments to and from third party locations - Arranges repair of material returned to warehouse by selecting repair vendors, cross-referencing quotes, and arranging pick-up or delivery to vendor’s facility - Maintain digital records of repair work - Arranges hot shot deliveries for emergency and critical needs shipments - Operate warehouse machinery including but not limited to forklift, bobcat and overhead crane - Load and unload delivery trucks - Responsible for general maintenance of facility and upkeep of grounds - Responsible for pickup and delivery of material using company vehicle in the Belle Chasse & Baton Rouge area on an as-needed basis. - Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Buyer III                LOCATION  - Must live in the Greater Baton Rouge Area - Position will split time from Belle Chasse to Baton Rouge 2-3 days a week     IV.         EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE - Experience in inventory, shipping, and receiving functions or equivalent education preferred - Experience in operating warehouse equipment preferred - Purchasing and logistics coordination experience preferred - Marine industry experience preferred - Proficiency in computer and clerical duties (email, web-based software, adobe, office) - Minimum high school education

I.                BASIC FUNCTION          Provide logistics, dispatch and administrative support to Canal Terminal Company’s Channahon office, specifically supporting the Logistics Supervisor and Terminal Superintendent. Integrated within the business unit, the Terminal Operations Coordinator also adheres and supports Canal Barge Company’s business philosophy and mission statement while striving for continuous improvement of personal and company goals.   II.             PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES   1.    Logistics and Customer Service– Manage traffic flow into and out of Terminal 2.    Permitting and Documentation Management– Help ensure the security of the Terminal and appropriate product management. 3.    Administrative– Ensure documentation is complete for all inbound and outbound traffic. 4.    Operations Support- Cross functional understanding of safety standards for the terminal as well as associated risks with handling hazardous liquids   III.     SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES                               A.    Logistics and Customer Service 1.     Communicate with customers and vendors to ensure the smooth flow of approved traffic into and out of the Terminal, as needed. 2.     Communicate with CTC Operators to ensure proper, timely, and accurate transfer of product, as needed. 3.     Coordinate sales commitments and operations to achieve the greatest efficiency and profit. Understand commitments to and requirements of customers and fulfill them. 4.     Ensure that customer relations are maintained. Report deficiencies to the Logistics Supervisor, Terminal Manager, and/or Vice President of Terminal Operations as soon as possible. 5.     Track Operational scorecard of performance metrics. 6.     Flexibility to cover dispatch on a rotational basis or as needed.   B.    Permitting and Documentation Management 1.     Enforce the appropriate security requirements for everyone entering the Terminal facility. 2.     Assist in coordinating the development, retention, and use of all required manuals and documentation for the Terminal. 3.     Assist as needed in orientation and/or training activities.   C.    Administration 1.     Track and reconcile cargo receipts, documentation, and inventory to ensure accurate and timely billing of customers and payment for services. 2.     Provide general clerical support for the Terminal. 3.    Assist in or manage special projects as assigned. 4.     Ensure compliance of entry and delivery of CTC Contractors / Project Materials in consultation with Logistics Supervisor and/or Terminal Manager. 5.     Maintain all Driver records and files. 6.     Interact and comply to all customer SAP and informational system requirements. 7.     Ensure that Terminal meets all performance standards and metrics.   Other 1.     Perform other duties as required and directed by management. 2.   Managing PPE, scheduling Boot truck and Cintas uniforms 3.   Work with the Onbase accounting system as directed 4.     Carry out and the Business Philosophy, Code of Conduct, and Mission of Illinois Marine Towing and Canal Barge Company, Inc.   IV.         ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP   The Terminal Operations Coordinator reports to the Logistics Supervisor.    V.         EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION   1.     Bachelor’s degree is preferred 2.     Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a logistics, customer service and inventory control in a terminal environment preferred. 3.     Proficient in P.C. functions, word processing, spreadsheet and graphics, preferably, Word, Excel, and Power Point. 4.     Understand basic accounting principles as it related to logistics and stock accounting 5.     Strong written and verbal communication skills 6.     Must have strong customer service skills

MARINE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN MARINE MAINTENANCE & REPAIR   I           BASIC FUNCTION Provide support to CBC Boat and Barge Maintenance on inspecting, reporting on, performing preventive maintenance and repair activities, and training CBC personnel and third parties on Canal Barge Company maintenance procedures, reporting expectations, and basic troubleshooting.    II         SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES The Marine Maintenance Technician has the overriding authority to fully perform all the responsibilities and duties assigned to this position: - Perform maintenance, diagnose, disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and reassemble all components (such as engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems, power generation, electronics, etc.) either in a shop, onboard, or at various locations with or without supervision. - Work closely with CBC Boat and Barge Maintenance personnel and management on all aspects of Preventive Maintenance and Repair on CBC towboats and barges. - Inspect equipment according to CBC inspection schedules and standards, or on an as-needed basis, and report on findings by entering into Sinex and/or providing written and/or verbal reports. - Perform preventive maintenance and repair on equipment as required or directed. - Troubleshoot problems and either resolve or make recommendations for resolution. - Train vessel personnel in CBC maintenance procedures, standards and inspection schedules, and basic troubleshooting techniques. - Examine systems and components for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear and tear. Report on and resolve issues if possible. - Test machinery and equipment to verify successful operation after servicing. - Read blueprints and technical manuals to insure correct installation and operations. - Perform additional projects as assigned by the Boat and Barge Maintenance management. - Carry out the CBC Mission, Business Philosophy, and Code of Conduct. - Job is classified as heavy work; requires inside and outside work under various normal and adverse weather conditions, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling frequently over 50 pounds; walking, climbing reaching over shoulder, hand/eye coordination, twisting, working around unprotected heights, working around moving machinery, repetitive actions with both hands and feet.   III        RELATIONSHIP The Marine Maintenance Technician is appointed by Manager, Field Operations and reports to the Sulphur, LA-based Assistant Port Engineer, and will be responsible for assisting both Boat and Barge Maintenance and working closely with CBC shore and vessel-based personnel and third-party vendors.   IV        EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION - A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. - An Associates or Technical Degree or military training is preferred. - 2 years of successful experience as a Maintenance Technician is preferred. - A valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (T.W.I.C) is required. - Must have a current driver's license and good driving record. - The ability to ride on inland towing vessels, as well as walk and access vessels and barges, as needed, is required. - The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as, percentages, ratios and proportions. - Basic computer skills such as: opening, creating and updating content in MS Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. - The ability to work after hour call-outs. - A strong working knowledge of electrical systems, diesel engine systems; installation, maintenance, repair and replacement. - Ability to prioritize and respond to multiple business needs.
